What is supervised visitation in Mississippi?

Supervised visitation occurs when a parent, a non-custodial parent, has done something that the court is concerned about, leaving them alone with the child.

For example, the party might have had a problem with drugs or alcohol, and in order to maintain the relationship the with parent and the child, the court sees that it is in the best interest of the child to maintain a relationship, but to do it in a controlled fashion. So, until the parent reaches a certain phase of a certain stage, then their visitation would be monitored.

Often times, it’s being monitored by someone who is responsible, a relative, such as a grandparent, an aunt or an uncle. There are also agencies locally that provide for supervised visitation, and more of those are popping up as the need grows greater.
